SUBHASHITA WITH ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Subhaashita means good speech. They are wise sayings, instructions and stories, either in poetry or in prose composed in Sanskrit language which is considered as the "Mother of all Languages". The great subhaashitas are composed by ancient saints and scholars which can be dated back to 5000 BC.Some of the well known sanskrit scholars include Bhartrhari, Subhashita Ratna bhandagara and Somadeva Bhatta. The Panchatantra and the Hitopadesha also belong to this category. This compilation draws from all these sources in addition to the Bhagvad Geetha and other Puranas, Ramayana, and Mahabharata.
A subhaashita has morals and values that are life essentials. As humans, it is not enough if we just eat, drink and exist in life. Even animals eat, drink and live life. Human beings need values and morals, as God blessed them with something very exclusive - intelligence and speech. To put those faculties to use, we need material to learn from.
"Subhaashitas" the great wisdom of the world is available in simple bite-sized two-liners act as teacher in formulating the sense of morality and character, which sums up the total of a person’s virtues including dispositions, behaviors, habits, likes, dislikes, capacities, traits, ideals, ideas, values, feelings, and intuitions.
What should one collect to flourish in life? Not real estate, not cash, not jewels nor property. A good collection of merit is what he needs. The best of them are - dharma (virtue), principles, politeness, mind captivating subhaaShitaa-s and the like. One may lead a life without money or property. But without principles, virtues and politeness, there is no life. Understand the importance of the subhaaShitas in our life. As the company of good people is essential, so is the knowledge (and application) of the subhaaShitas.
Subhaashitaas are a great heritage of Indian culture. They teach values in life, great thoughts in a convincing manner, often quoting examples. Collect and learn them;Teach your children one subhashita per day with translation will really help shaping their attitude and character. They are notable measures of directions for human life! They play an immense importance in shaping the culture and the society. By understanding the meaning and practicing one can can cultivate a strong and morally superior character and the disciplines in real life. Let's get learning! More importantly, let's start applying them in our daily lives

FOOTSTEPS
It is not very easy to accept all the things come in our way…but, if we can do so, just imagine how beautiful we will feel the world is…Every day will be a red lettered…every moment will be a special one… but how far we can go like that…? How far we like it... may be it will become routine and we may start complaining about many things… and why not? ... That’s what happening in these days compared to our earlier generations.
I do believe that people lived in each generation can be divided into two parts. One part of the people who were not satisfied with the accessories they had, who were always worrying to do some thing new, who were rest less for some days until they get what they wanted, who might not lead a very happy life but they might satisfied with what they achieved finally. In the second part lie the people who were satisfied with their belongings and those never wanted to loose their happiness because of materialist things, who were not much worried about the untouchable things for them, who might lead a happy and peaceful life.
If we can go through further analysis, because of the first part of the people today we are very comfortable with many facilities and new inventions which are working in their own way for our safety and happy living. They stay all along with the world as inventors who helped people in giving their needs. Because of the second part of the people, we know the essentials of happy life. Whose sayings are inspiring us…whose life story is giving the training in personality development area. They stay all along with the world as persons who have shown the way to go.
All in all, every generation has its own affect on its further generations, either it is good or bad, we should accept it as it comes and what it gives. We follow some one’s foot steps and our’s will be followed by some one on a day or other. Nothing went in vain till now and each and every individual’s living will teaches us a lot so as our life. Whatever the way we choose to lead the life either peaceful or purposeful, we should be true enough to ourselves and we should not forget that our foot steps will be there even after our work is over on our earth.
The above one is truely correct and very much practical also .Now a days people running behind happiness ,but it is ultimately they are behind collecting bolongings in their life .True Values are just going away far behind ,rather nobody have an idea about what are the VALUES OF LIFE actually .So like father like son or as parents as children .All are ust living materialistic life which is not at all beneficial to anybody ,but no body has the seriousness also.

RELATIONSHIPS
It was the coldest winter ever - many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions even though they gave off heat to each other. After awhile they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. This way they learned to live with the little wounds that were caused by the close relationship with their companion, but the most important part of it, was the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.
Moral of the story:
The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but the best is when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities. Wonderful Message about relationships.

SOMEONE NEEDS YOU
The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night, the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.
He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.
The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.
"No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life."
"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"
"I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn't here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."
The next time someone needs you ... just be there. Stay.

WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS GOING THROUGH A TEMPORARY HUMAN EXPERIENCE.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
A turtle family went on a picnic. The turtles, being naturally slow about things, took seven years to prepare for their outings. Finally the Turtle family left home looking for a suitable place. During the second year of their journey they found it. For about six months they cleaned up the area, unpacked the picnic basket, and completed the arrangements.
Then they discovered they had forgotten the salt. A picnic without salt would be a disaster, they all agreed. After a lengthy discussion, the youngest turtle was chosen to retrieve the salt from home. Although he was the fastest of the slow moving turtles, the little turtle whined, cried, and wobbled in his shell.
He agreed to go on one condition: that no one would eat until he returned. The family consented and the little turtle left. Three days passed and the little turtle had not returned. Five days and Six days passed... Then in the seventh day of his absence, the oldest turtle could no longer contain his hunger. He announced that he was going to eat and began to unwrap a sandwich. At that point the little turtle suddenly popped out from behind a tree shouting, "SEE I knew you wouldn't wait. Now I am not going to go get the salt."
Lesson Learned:
Some of us waste our time waiting for people to live up to our expectations. We are so concerned about what others are doing that we don't do anything ourselves.

NAVARATHRI FROM 08-10-2010 TO 17-10-2010
Navarathri is celebrated through the first nine days of Hindu month of Asvij.
Navarathri is the celebration of the end of the darkness of ignorance and evil. It is said to bring knowledge, goodness, and bliss, thus spiritually enlightening the human mind.
Significance:
Navarathri signifies victory over our minds. Navarathri is to destroy the ill thoughts and replace them with virtuous qualities. It signifies the process by which one removes the layers of ignorance and achieves the state of self-realization.
Associate Legend:
At one stage the gods felt powerless against the onslaughts of the demonical forces headed by mahishasura. In answer to their prayers for protection, they were ordered to part with a portion of their divine powers, to form into a new goddess. It was thus that “Mahishasura mardini” took a physical form as the combined might of 33 crores of gods. The dreaded demon mahishasura was killed by her after a ceaseless fight of 9 days and nights.
Celebration:
First 3 days of Navarathri is dedicated to Mata Durga. She is the destroyer of “Mahishasura” the buffalo headed demon. Buffalo represents tamoguna in us i.e. quality of laziness, darkness, inertia and ignorance. Therefore by worshipping mother durga, we invoke the divine power with in us to destroy our animalistic tendencies. The next 3 days are dedicated to mother Lakshmi.By invoking her grace we are not only blessed with virtuous qualities but also by Daivi Sampatti and by gaining victory or self control over the mind. Last 3days are dedicated to Mother Sarswathi who is the bestower of light of knowledge. She removes the ignorance and darkness and grants us the higher knowledge of self.
FORGIVENESS
"Forgiveness is the sweetest revenge." I saw this wonderful old saying again in a
book recently. It got me to thinking about all the times that I have been able to forgive others in my life and all the joy that it has brought me. One memory
stands out particularly well. I was a young boy spending a week at 4-H camp during the Summer. I was having a great time and enjoying everything about it except for another young boy about my age. To say we didn’t get along would be an understatement. We spent most of the week irritating, insulting, and picking on each other. Words finally came to blows on the next to last day of camp. We got into a fist fight which I lost. Thankfully, older boys broke it up before I was hurt too much. I spent the rest of the day alone, sulking and stewing in my own anger.
The next day my spirits were lifted, however, when my Mom brought the boys in our cabin some of her delicious homemade pizzas.I was enjoying a few slices of it when I saw the other boy sitting by himself at the bottom of the steps outside. He seemed very lonely right then.I am not sure what moved me to do so, but I took my pizzadown and shared it with him.It made all the anger and pain inside me go away. We became friends after that.I never got into another fist fight either.I had found out that sharing and forgiving were way more fun and a lot less painful.
Forgiveness truly is the sweetest revenge. It can turn an enemy into a friend. It can free a heart from the chains of anger, hatred, and pain.It can open a soul to the sweetness of love and joy once again. It can help you to live by the Golden Rule and to create a Golden Life.It can bring you back to oneness with God in everything you think, feel, and do. That is why I often pray, "God help me to forgive, help me to give, and help me to love." May your life always be full of sweet forgiveness then. May you always delight in its Heavenly charms."

REMEMBERING LAL BHADUR SHASTRY
Lal Bahadur Shastri was the second Prime Minister of the Republic of India. He was born in 2 October 1904 and died in 11 January 1966.Lal Bahadur Shastri the second prime minister of India was a simple man with great personality and Highest Integrity. His grounding was from the grassroots level. He is the one and only Indian Prime Minister who was from humble family, who was very down to earth and a real son of the soil. He played a leading role in Indian freedom struggle.
Two qualities, which the leader of any nation must have, are devotion and efficiency. Lal Bahadur had both the qualities in a large measure. He would not swerve from his aim, come what may when the people of India Were fighting for freedom he brushed aside all thought of personal happiness and plunged into the freedom struggle. His daughter’s death, his son's illness, poverty - none of these made him swerve from his selection path. Even when he became a minister and later, the Prime Minister he was never attracted to a life of luxury and comfort.
More than thirty years of dedicated service were behind Lal Bahadur Shastri. He was a man of the people who understood their language. He was also a man of vision who led the country towards progress. He tackled several problems like food shortage, unemployment and poverty. To overcome the acute food shortage, he initially imported food grains and distributed them throughout the country. Later, he drew long-term plans to make the country self-sufficient in food production.
He was a practical man too. He strongly believed the laws of the land should be changed because the British formed them to rule over India. He did make an attempt by constituting the administrative reforms commission and made Morarji Desai its chairman. But after he died the idea was shelved.
The most favourite quote followed by the great the then prime minister is Guru Nanak's quotes in Gurmukhi.
When translated into English they mean -- Be simple and humble like the grass, because when a wild storm attacks, all the big trees get uprooted but the simple grass survives. Simple, but powerful.
Shastri's message of life was that if he could become PM anybody could, because he was a common man. By his actions he set new standards of morality in public life. He led his life with great simplicity and honesty and was a great source of inspiration for all the countrymen. He never felt desire for money, His life was noble, loving and mainly in the highest sense!
Although shastriji is not with us but his principal and simplicity always show the right way of life. We should follow such principals. Really he is my favorite great leader.
LET US ALL SALUTE AND PRAY FOR A NOBLE SOUL,
A TRUE HERO ...........
REMEMBERING GANDHIJI
A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people.
Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.
We may never be strong enough to be entirely nonviolent in thought, word and deed. But we must keep nonviolence as our goal and make strong progress towards it.
A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to Please, or worse, to avoid trouble.
Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.
Before the throne of the Almighty, man will be judged not by his acts but by his intentions. For God alone reads our hearts.
God is, even though the whole world deny him. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self-sustained.
If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.
Non-violence is not a garment to be put on and off at will. Its seat is in the heart, and it must be an inseparable part of our being.
Non-violence requires a double faith, faith in God and also faith in man.
Nonviolence is the first article of my faith. It is also the last article of my creed.
Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul.It is daily admission of one's weakness. In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.
Prayer is not an old woman's idle amusement. Properly understood and applied, it is the most potent instrument of action.
Self-respect knows no considerations.
In matters of conscience, the law of the majority has no place.
There is a higher court than courts of justice and that is the court of conscience. It supercedes all other courts.
The real ornament of woman is her character, her purity.
The essence of all religions is one. Only their approaches are different.
We may have our private opinions but why should they be a bar to the meeting of hearts?
HAPPY GANDHI JAYANTHI.
IMPORTANCE OF OCTOBER 2
If we Ask any person or any school going children, what is the existence of October 2nd in Indian history; probably they will not even think once and tell that it is Gandhi Jayanti (Birthday of Mahatama Gandhi).
We always celebrate 2nd October as Gandhi jayanti but so many people forgetting there's one more celebration on this day of our great leader and best Ex Prime minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. I know most of the people don't know that his birthday also come on the same day because in our schools, colleges we were only told about Gandhi janyanti on 2nd October, even the television channels also telecasting movies on the eve of Gandhi Jayanthi, but I have hardly witnessed any type of coverage about Lal Bahadur Shastri or his birth anniversaryon any TV channels.
However, very few people know that it is the birth anniversary of Late Lal Bahadur Shastri as well; In a manner we should call this day as Gandhi jayanti as well as Shastri Jayanti. It is pitty that the people, who remember and celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi, forget that the same day is the birth day of our former prime Minister - a humble man.
Lal Bahadur Shrivastav Shastri was the second Prime Minister of the Republic of India and a significant figure in the Indian independence movement, who led India through the critical years after succeeding Nehru, who concerned about the common man of India and gave the slogan Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. Lal Bahadur Shastri was the first person in India who received the Bharat Ratna award.
Let's not forget the people who have sacrificed for the nation, the one like Lal Bahadur Sastry. Its my humble request to all my Indian people please don't forget that man who devoted his whole life only to save our country, and for the nation. India is now an Independent country because we had such a great leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri.
As we don't forget Children Day, Gandhi jayanti, and other events tell your children about this great leader. We must keep Lal Bahadur Shastri's birthday in ourmind whowas not less than these leaders in any manner. I appeal to all people for celebrating Gandhi jayanti as well as Shatri Jayantion 2nd October.
As a citizen of India I wish all the faithful readers of this mail A very Happy Gandhi Jayanthi, Lal Bahadur Shastris Jayanti and International day of Non Violence.
