TRUE FRIENDSHIP


Ever wondered what is the real essence of the saying "A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed"? People talk about the true value of friendship without knowing what it stands for.
True friendship is when there are no formalities; when the person you are talking about is counted as family; when the relation you share reaches a stage that even if you don't correspond for sometime, your relationship remains intact.
Best friends need not meet up often to make sure that the friendship remains constant. The trust between best friends is such that if one friend falls in trouble, the other will not think twice to help.

If the bond between two friends is strong, true friends can endure even long distances. They find a way of being in touch despite busy schedules. True friendship never fades away; in fact it grows better with time.
True friends don't need a posh place to hang out. Their most precious hideout is each others' rooms! True friendship thrives on trust, inspiration and comfort. Best friends come to know when the other person is in trouble, merely by listening to their "Hello" over the phone. True friends don't desert each other when there is trouble. They face it together and support each other even if it hurts the other individual's interest.
Best friends don't analyze each other; they don't have to. They accept each other with their positive and negative qualities. Nothing is hidden between true friends; they know each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Best friends don't stand any outsider commenting or criticizing their friendship and they can put up a very firm resistance if anyone does so.

True friends are not opportunists. They don't help because they have something to gain out of it. True friendship is selfless. Best friends support even when the whole world opposes you.

It is not easy getting true friends and if you have even one true friend, consider yourself blessed. In this world of cynics and back stabbers, there are still some people who are worth being friends with.

THE MOST IMPORTANT BODY PART


My mother used to ask me what is the most important part of the body.
Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct answer. When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, "My ears, Mommy. " She said, "No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon."

Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer. So this time I told her, Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes." She looked at me and told me, "You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind."

Stumped again, I continued my quest for knowledge and over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, "No. But you are getting smarter every year, my child."

Then last year, my grandpa died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Even my father cried. I remember that especially because it was only the second time I saw him cry. My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to Grandpa. She asked me, " Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear?" I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me.

She saw the confusion on my face and told me, "This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived in your life. For every body part you gave me in the past, I have told you were wrong and I have given you an example why. But today is the day you need to learn this important lesson." She looked down at me as only a mother can. I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, "My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder. "

I asked, "Is it because it holds up my head?"
She replied, "No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometime in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it."

Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is sympathetic to the pain of others. People will forget what you said ... People will forget what you did ... But people will NEVER forget how you made them FEEL.

WHY GO TO THE TEMPLE?

Why Go To The Temple ?

A 'devotee' goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to the Temple .'

I've gone for 30 years now, he wrote, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 mantras.But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them.

So, I think I'm wasting my time and the Gurus are wasting theirs by giving services at all. This started a real controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column, much to the delight of the editor.

It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals.But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals.But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work.
If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today.

Likewise, if I had not gone to the Temple for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today! When you are DOWN to nothing God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

A NICE LESSON !!!!


Once a boy went to a shop with his mother.The shop keeper looked at the small cute child and showed him abottle with sweets and said,'Dear Child, u can take the sweets.'But the child didnt take.The shop keeper was surprised.. he is such a small child he and why ishe not taking the sweets from the bottle.Again he said to take the sweets....
Now the mother also heard that and said, 'Take the sweets dear.'Yet he didnt take...The shopkeeper seeing the child not taking the sweets, he himself tookthesweets and gave it to the child.
The child was happy to get two hands full of sweetsWhile returning home the Mother asked the child,'Why didnt you take the sweets when the shop keeper told you totake?'

Can you guess the response:The child replies, 'Mom, my hands are very small, and if I take thesweets, I can only take few. But, now you see - when uncle gave withhis big hands.... how many more sweets I got ???'

Moral:When we take we may get little;but, when God - The Almighty gives,He gives us more beyond our expectations....more than what we can hold..!!

WHY DO WE READ BHAGAVAD GITA EVEN IF WE CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT?


Why do we read the Bhagavad-Gita, even if we can't understand it?
An old farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson. Each morning, Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Bhagavad-Gita.
His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.
One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Bhagavad-Gita just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand, I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bhagavad-Gita do?"
The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."
The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house.
The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.
This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.
The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.
At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty.
Out of breath, he said, "SEE.... it is useless!""So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out."Son, that's what happens when you read the Bhagavad-Gita. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Lord Krishna in our lives."

BHAGAVAD GITA


Here below is the brief essence of the Philosophy of BHAGVAD GITA. Teachings of Bhagwat Gita were given by Lord Krishna, the God Himself to his disciple Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra in Haryana State of India. These teachings were given more than 5000 years ago but these are still relevant today in our lives.

Whatever happened in the past, it happened for the good; Whatever is happening, is happening for the good; Whatever shall happen in the future, shall happen for the good only. Do not weep for the past, do not worry for the future, concentrate on your present life.

What did you bring at the time of birth, that you have lost? What did you produce, which is destroyed? You didn't bring anything when you were born.

Whatever you have, you have received it from the God only while on this earth. Whatever you will give, you will give it to the God. Everyone came in this world empty handed and shall go the same way. Everything belongs to God only.

Whatever belongs to you today, belonged to someone else earlier and shall belong to some one else in future. Change is the law of the universe.
You are an indestructible Soul & not a body.

Body is composed of five elements - Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Sky; one day body shall perish in these elements.

Soul lives forever even after death as soul is never born & never dies. So Why do you worry unnecessarily? What are you afraid of? Who can kill you?

Devote yourself to the Almighty God only. One who takes the support of God, always gains freedom from fear, worry and despair.

JOY OF COMPLETE SURRENDER


Many of us do Prayer sometimes, some do it daily. We all do get some peace of mind & happiness while doing Prayer. Later on when we get involved in our daily chorus, all tensions of life again surround us. Little peace that we get during prayer is lost when we experience tensions of our job. How can it be that our mind remains at peace & in a happy state of mind always?

To be at peace with yourself & be happy all the times, you need to surrender your ego to the God completely. We need to be in constant remembrance of God. We need to take complete refuge in God by surrendering our ego at the feet of God. By complete surrender to God we do get freedom from all our sins and sorrows.

In God there is no sin or sorrow. God is like the Sun in which darkness cannot exist. God is complete Joy, complete Bliss. When we are surrendering our ego to God, then we are surrendering ourselves to Joy & Bliss.

Whenever our ego separates ourselves from God, we become sad & unhappy & all tensions of life surround us. In any case we should not be egoistic, as to be egoistic is to show our separate existence from God, separate existence from Joy & Bliss.

When the subtle veil of ego is torn between you & God then you are full of Joy & happiness. Just think yourself to be an instrument of God & devote fully to God.

So do Complete Surrender to God, as in this way you shall be free of all tensions of life & shall be at peace & be happy during all walks of life. Below verse of Bhagwat Gita teaches the same.

“sarva-dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja
aham tvam sarva-papebhyo
mokshayisyami ma suchah"
(Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eighteen verse 66).
"Sri Krishna said: O Arjuna, Surrender unto Me alone. By surrendering all duties to Me, seek refuge in Me. I shall absolve you of all sins; grieve not."

HOW TO BE HAPPY AT WORK



Every professional and an employee knows how bad the current economic condition is – no jobs, more pay cuts, layoffs, higher workload, no bonus, no appraisal and what is even worse is that every one’s living in the fear of loosing their job any minute. One can totally understand how stressful all this is for working professionals and employees. Buy you need to cope with all these issues or you’ll find it really hard to concentrate on your work and do a good job. Here is how you can divert your mind from this stressful situation and be happy at work.

When you are overloaded with personal issues, it’s really difficult to concentrate on work and be happy at your workplace. So, learn to share your problems with a close colleague. Do not keep your problems to yourself or you will end up feeling depressed. Follow one simple rule and you will always be happy in life. Leave your personal worries at home and your professional issues at work and then see the change in you. In fact this will help you stay focused and productive at work. Make yourself comfortable at work: You must be spending at least eight hours a day at work, which obviously means that you spend more time in office than at home. So, make your space your own, do all that you like at your desk put pictures of you and you friends on your wall board. You could decorate your area as much your company policy permits, and make yourself as comfortable and relaxed as you can be in your office.

Have an office support system: Being good friends with a colleague who shares a similar kind of lifestyle can take a lot of pressure off you at work, trust us. When you are able to share your feelings with a colleague who understands you really well, it helps minimize stress to a great extent.

Maintaining a good diet and drinking loads of water can really make a huge difference in your energy level and attitude. When we say good diet, we mean avoid eating too much of refined food such as sugar and bread.

Once you reach office, do not stick to your seat and keep working the whole day. Move around a little. Go out for a cup of Tea or coffee with your colleagues, chat with your teammates or read something interesting but do not be a workaholic.

Don’t try to change others: You obviously can’t change any one you can only bring about changes in yourself. Just figure out a way to resolve conflicts and avert uncomfortable situations and you will be much happier at work.

Treat yourself once in a while: Think of something that will really make you happy. We mean reward your self once in a while. Whether it be dinner with family or friends, a movie, or even a manicure, but treat yourself once in a while. Just like how stress from home can interfere with work, the positive aspects of your life can greatly influence your mood at work as well.

Focus on the positive: Identify all those things you like at work. It can be chatting with your friends on line from work in your free time or even a nice view from your office window. You create your own mind-set. If you stress the positives, you will make your job much more enjoyable but if you keep stressing on all your negatives, it may cause you to become overwhelmed.

The hands that help are holier than lips that pray. Real devotion did not lie in selfish acts but in honest thinking and living and helping others in need or distress. God realization is not possible through construction of temples, great and costly charities done or reading hymns done with out a good heart but only possible through sincere and simple acts of compassion performed with a true sense of devotion.

He manifest in a personal form to guide the aspirant.
Grace of god takes the form of Guru
To see the Guru is to see God.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a Man how to fish and you feed him for a life time. That’s exactly what a teacher has done for us and we celebrate this joyous occasion in remembrance of the greatest teacher of India on His Birthday.

Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was born on 5 September 1888 in Tirutani, a well-known religious center in the Madras State. Dr. Radhakrishnan is, indeed, a versatile genius - a great scholar, philosopher, seer, writer, orator, statesman, administrator and above all, a great man. It marks the birth anniversary of former Indian president and teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

God understood our thirst for knowledge, and our need to be led by someone wiser; He needed a heart of compassion, of encouragement, and patience; someone who would accept the challenge regardless of the opposition; someone who could see potential and believe in the best in others. So He made Teachers.

A word from Guru is a word from God. Man can learn only from man, and hence god teaches through (GURU).

It is a universal truth that "Teaching is a NOBLE PROFFESSION". For the dawn of each poet, each philosopher and king Begins with a Teacher and the wisdom they bring.

Teachers, I believe, that teacher's are the most responsible and important members of society because their professional efforts affect the fate of the earth." Mother show's father and father show's "GURU". The Guru is united with the GOD.

The Greatness of the guru cannot be express in simple words. Teachers Paint the minds, guide the thoughts, Share the achievements and advise the faults. If any fault has done "Guru" will protects but if at all anything wrong is done to "Guru" no God can protect, that is the greatness of the "GURU".

I found guidance, friendship, discipline and love everything in one person and that the person is my teacher.

Today we are like this because of our teachers. So say a small wish and prayer for them. On this teacher's day I thank my teachers always and without them I am nothing that includes my loving Mom and my loving Dad who guided me as parents as well as those days in the school MY teachers. Happy Teacher's day.

Remember all words they say, the words make you special, words make you social, he is our teacher, he is our guide, so let’s make them feel pride by wishing them on this special day.

Let us salute the nation builder. Let us salute the creator of our destiny. Let us salute our teachers. Guru Devo Bhava. HAPPY TEACHERS DAY.

SELF CONFIDENCE


Self confidence is the faith a person should have in himself or herself. It is the conviction that one has the ability required to do thing well. Many people lack self confidence and they falter at first step .people who succeed are those who have full confidence in their abilities. They are daring and very positive.

We must develop our self confidence. If we do not have confidence in our selves how will others have confidence in us? Everything looks easy and possible to the ones who have self confidence. We should be convinced that we can do things .This will help us a positive out look. Like napoleon, we should be able to say that the word “Impossible‘’ is found in the dictionary of fools. Each one of us should say ‘’I can do it. I have the abilities and I will do it ‘’. We should not say how can I? Or ‘’it’s impossible ‘or I cannot “or never.

This confidence will give us an inner drive. It will makes us self –reliant and many an impossible thing will become possible. That is where a miracle takes place.

We should convince our selves that a person’s capacity or ability to do things does not only depend on his on her education, background, size, wealth, or appearance .It is the will that that matters. It is the self –confidence and a very strong determination to succeed that matters. The so called highly successful people or super-heroes were all ordinary people with extraordinary self –confidence and determination.

Let us not forget that we are the children of god, who is almighty .Each one of us is unique. Each one of has a lot of talents. What is lacking is our self confidence. We should have faith in god and remember that god helps those who help themselves.

History is full of examples of people succeeding because of their self –confidence. No handicap could stop them from achieving what they wanted Beethoven, the great composer was deaf. Milton, the great poet, was blind. Helen Keller, the great social worker, was both deaf and blind. Robert Bruce, though defeated and chased, got back his kingdom from the great Macedonian emperor Alexander because he displayed his self confidence even before a victorious king.

One who lacks self confidence will always be a failure. A cat who is afraid to wet its paws can never catch a fish. Every human activity calls for self confidence. It may be driving, swimming, mountaineering, public speaking a business venture and so on; whatever it is, there is the need of self-confidence.

Success belongs to those who have self confidence. They can who think they can. They can’t who think they can’t.

FORGIVENESS


Forgiveness is a great virtue. In fact, it is said that “To err is human, to forgive is divine”. Yes, forgiveness is a divine quality.

Our father in heaven” is the beginning of a beautiful prayer, taught by Jesus Christ. The following line is a part of it. “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us”. We are asking god to forgive us because we have sinned against him. Each day we offend god several times. We tell god that we are sorry and we ask him to forgive us. God, our father, in his mercy and goodness forgives us.

In everyday life many people offend us, insults us, accuse us and even harm us. They too ask us to forgive them. At times, it may be very difficult. Yet we must forgive them. Only then can god forgive us for our sins.

Forgiveness is excusing someone who has offended us and showing him or her mercy. The first reaction is to hit back and to take revenge. “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” is jungle law. It does not suit a human being who is blessed with rationality. We must forgive, showing sympathy and love. Two wrongs do not make a right. Hitting back or taking revenge does not show strength. Infact, forgiveness shows it. In order to forgive a wrong, one must have a lot of moral strength. One will have to have a lot of sympathy, love patience and tolerance. One will have to possess a very strong will and above all God’s blessings. No doubt, it is very difficult to forgive.

Forgiving makes us like God. He is the best example of forgiveness. He showers his rain on all. He gives his sunlight to all. He does not separate the good from the bad. When Jesus Christ was crucified with nails and crowned with thorns, he said, “father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”. That is forgiveness.

THE IMPORTANCE OF VALUES AND MORALS

Every one knows that life is precious – that life is important. We all protect our life because we care for it more than anything else. If life is so important, the values of life are even more important. Values are guiding principles, or standards of behaviour which are regarded desirable, important and held in high esteem by a particular society in which a person lives.

"The Importance of Values and Morals are the code we live by in a civil and just society. They are what we use to guide our interactions with others, with our friends and family, in our businesses and professional behaviour. Our values and morals are a reflection of our spirituality; our character. They are what we hope to model for our children and the children around us, because children do watch us as they develop their own sense of right and wrong.

Value education means inculcating in the children sense humanism, a deep concern for the well being of others and the nation. This can be accomplished only when we instill in the children a deep feeling of commitment to values that would build this country and bring back to the people pride in work that brings order, security and assured progress.
Remember the “CHINESE PROVERB”.

"If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in character, if there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home, when there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation, when there is order in the nation there will be peace in the world".

A person with proper values will not be afraid to face problems. He or she will expect and accept them as part of life. He or she will not give un necessary importance to anything that happens in life. He or she will have complete faith in God. Such a person will be an example to the rest.

Last but not least we must love our own values in life, to build a strong character. It will help us to lead our life as it should be lead. It is very necessary for the fulfillment of life’s purpose.

THE YEARNING(DESIRE) OF A FLOWER


My mind raced back to my school days when I learnt a hindi poem by Pt. Makhanlal Chaturvedi called "PUSHP KI ABHILASHA".In those days we just mugged it up because it was part of our course, but somehow these lines have got etched in my mind.

This is, no doubt, best peice of poetry from Makhanlal. It accurately represent the pride and passion for the nation.I find these lines very close to my heart.Since the time i read this poem first time in 8th standard, i use to recite this poem once in a week till now.

This poem tells us dedication and patriotism towards our country. The
stanza of the poems are really soul stirring. Salute to him who wrote these lines and salute to them who shed their blood for our great motherland

I don't want to be a part of the necklace of the beautiful girl,I don't want to woo the lady love,I don't want to be spread over dead bodies,I don't want to act snob, after someone offers me to the Gods.
Just pluck me Gardner and throw me on the road,which is taken by the brave soldiers to give away their lives for the Motherland !
