BE GENEROUS

Be generous with your time …

Stay fully present with each encounter, as if this moment, is the most important, and nothing else exists.

Be generous with your words …

Never miss an opportunity to tell someone how you feel about them, or something they have done. A word of encouragement, a note of appreciation, a sincere compliment, can brighten someone’s day and even change a life.

Be generous with your thoughts …

Think the best of others, and see them as they would like to be, and not as they are now.

Be generous with your money …

Find an occasion to share what you have with others. Money is like love, the more you give away, the more returns to you.

Be generous with your heart …

Keep it open, no matter how frightening that may be sometimes. An open heart will heal every ailment and restore peace to your soul.

Be generous with your smile …

Give it away to everyone you meet, and see the world reflected back to you, in joyous celebration.

Be generous with your love …

It is who you really are, and why you came here, and in the end, it is all that really matters anyway.

IF LIFE IS A GAME, THESE ARE THE RULES.

Author:Chérie Carter-Scott,

I found this ten rules to be most thought-provoking and I think this will be helpful to all.

Rule One:
You will receive a body. You may love it or hate it, but it
will be yours for the duration of your life on Earth.

Rule Two:
You will be presented with lessons.
You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called "life."
Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to
learn lessons. You may like the lessons or hate them, but
you have designed them as part of your curriculum.

Rule Three:
There are no mistakes, only lessons.
Growth is a process of experimentation, a series of trials, errors,
and occasional victories. The failed experiments are as much a
part of the process as the experiments that work.

Rule Four:
A lesson is repeated until learned.
Lessons will repeated to you in various forms until you have
learned them. When you have learned them, you can then go on
to the next lesson.

Rule Five:
Learning does not end.
There is no part of life that does not contain lessons. If you are
alive, there are lessons to be learned.

Rule Six:
"There" is no better than "here."
When your "there" has become a "here," you will simply obtain
a "there" that will look better to you than your present "here."

Rule Seven:
Others are only mirrors of you.
You cannot love or hate something about another person unless
it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.

Rule Eight:
What you make of your life is up to you.
You have all the tools and resources you need.
What you do with them is up to you.

Rule Nine:
Your answers lie inside of you.
All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

Rule Ten:
You will forget all of this at birth.
We are all born with all of these capabilities - our early experiences lead us into a physical world, away from our spiritual selves, so that we become doubtful, cynical and lacking belief and confidence.

The ten Rules are not commandments, they are universal truths that apply to all. When you lose your way, call upon them. Have faith in the strength of your spirit. Courage resides in all of us - use it when you need to do what's right for you. Trust your instincts and your innermost feelings, whether you hear them as a little voice or a flash of inspiration. Listen to feelings as well as sounds. Look, listen, and trust. Draw on your natural inspiration.

Aspire to be wise - wisdom the ultimate path of your life, and it knows no limits other than those you impose on yourself. Support others, and by doing so you support yourself. Where you are unable to support others it is a sign that you are not adequately attending to your own needs. If you are interested in making the most of your life, and helping others forward this to all your friends.

LIFE IS LIKE A TRAIN RIDE

Life is like a train ride. We get on. We ride. We get off. We get back on and ride some more. There are accidents and there are delays. At certain stops there are surprises. Some of these will translate into great moments of joy; some will result in profound sorrow.

When we are born and we first board the train, we meet people whom we think will be with us for the entire journey. Those people are our parents! Sadly, this is far from the truth. Our parents are with us for as long as we absolutely need them. They, too, have journeys they must complete. We live on with the memories of their love, affection, friendship, guidance and their constant presence.

There are others who board the train and who eventually become very important to us, in turn. These people are our brothers, sisters, friends and acquaintances, whom we will learn to love, and cherish.

Some people consider their journey like a 1)jaunty tour. They will just go merrily along. Others will encounter many upsets, tears and losses on their journey. Others still, will linger on to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.

Some people on the train will leave an everlasting impression when they get off. Some will get on and get off the train so quickly, they will scarcely leave a sign that they ever travelled along with you or ever crossed your path.

We will sometimes be upset that some passengers, whom we love, will choose to sit in another compartment and leave us to travel on our own. Then again, there’s nothing that says we can’t seek them out anyway. Nevertheless, once sought out and found, we may not even be able to sit next to them because that seat will already be taken.

That’s okay …everyone’s journey will be filled with hopes, dreams, challenges, setbacks and goodbyes

We must strive to make the best of it… no matter what. We must constantly strive to understand our travel companions and look for the best in everyone.

Remember that at any moment during our journey, any one of our travel companions can have a weak moment and be in need of our help. We, too, may vacillate or hesitate, even trip. Hopefully, we can count on someone being there to be supportive and understanding…

The bigger mystery of our journey is that we don’t know when our last stop will come. Neither do we know when our travel companions will make their last stop. Not even those sitting in the seat next to us. Personally, I know I’ll be sad to make my final stop… I’m sure of it! My separation from all those friends and acquaintances I made during the train ride will be painful. Leaving all those I’m close to will be a sad thing. But then again, I’m certain that one day I’ll get to the main station only to meet up with everyone else. They’ll all be carrying their baggage, most of which they didn’t have when they first got on this train.

I’ll be glad to see them again. I’ll also be glad to have contributed to their baggage and to have enriched their lives, just as much as they will have contributed to my baggage and enriched my life.

We’re all on this train ride together. Above all, we should all try to strive to make the ride as pleasant and memorable as we can, right up until we each make the final stop and leave the train for the last time.

THE POWER OF CONSCIENCE

The Power of the Conscience [Thoughts for the Day] By Dunn, Chuck

It has been said, “if we put off repentance another day, we have a day more to repent of, and a day less to repent in.” I sometimes marvel at the difference between my children. For example, Peyton has a heavy conscience. He can’t do anything without feeling badly about it. Katie on the other hand, is quite the opposite. Sometimes I wonder if she even has a conscience at all.

The other day, after homework, baths, dinner, etc. it was play time. Peyton wanted to play the Xbox 360 while Katie wanted to watch her Tinker Bell movie. It was headed for a major sibling “disagreement” when Peyton suddenly said with great conviction, “Okay Katie, you can watch your movie because I played my game after I did my homework.” I thought that was very admirable that he owned up to it being Katie’s turn.

It was still early in the evening. So the deal was Katie would watch her movie and Peyton could play the game once the movie was complete. Unknown to Peyton and to myself, (until I caught her) Katie was taking the remote and repeating segments of the movie she liked. The movie that is a little over an hour long was now closing in on two hours of air time. Katie saw nothing wrong with it.

Actually, she thought it was quite humorous that Peyton wouldn’t get to play his game. Matthew 6:23 tells us, “But if your eye is unsound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the very light in you [your conscience] is darkened, how dense is that darkness!” I think this tells us that we should always strive to have a clear conscience that is void of any offense toward God especially; but also toward man. There is nothing that can complicate our lives as much as a guilty conscience.

It pressures us and keeps us from enjoying any and everything. We can try to ignore it. But it is always whispering to us and reminding us that what we have done is not right. The guilty conscience also interferes with our faith and our worship. I had to talk to Katie. I had to help her see that what she had done was wrong. Today, take an honest self-examination of yourself and work to remedy those broken relationships. I think your conscience will thank you and I know God will be proud of you.

REMEMBER THERE IS HIGHER COURT THAN COURTS OF JUSTICE AND THAT IS THE COURT OF CONSCIENCE.IT SUPERCEDES ALL OTHER COURTS

STORY OF APPRECIATION

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.

He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.

The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.

The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answered "none".

The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.

The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

The director asked, " Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.

The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.*

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His
mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, asked: " Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?"

The youth answered, " I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'

The Director asked, " please tell me your feelings."

The youth said, Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not be a successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.

The director said, " This is what I am looking for to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously.

A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?*

You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.

LOVELY LIFE WORDS OF WISDOM

A short walk is so difficult,
when no one walks with you.
But a long journey is just like few steps
when you walk with someone
who loves and cares for you.

We always look and care for the person
whom we love the most.
But we fail to look back at those
who love us the most.

Death's not the greatest loss in life..
The greatest loss is when
relationships die inside us while
we are still alive...

Life is not about the people
who act true on your face.
Its about the people who
remain true behind your back.

Time decides whom you meet in life…
Your heart decides whom you want in life..
but your behaviors decides
who will stay in your life.

You can win life by all means..
Yes.
If you simply avoid two things...
1. Comparing - with others
2. Expecting - from other

Life will be more beautiful!!

WHEN YOU SAY GOD TELLS

When you say, I can’t solve this
God tells you, I will direct your path.

When you say, it’s impossible
God tells you, everything is possible

When you say, I feel alone
God tells you, never will I leave you,
Never will I forsake you

When you say, I can’t do it.
God tells you, I can do everything through
him who gives me strength.

When you say, I don’t deserve forgiveness
God tells you, I have forgiven you

When you say. I am tired
God tells you, come to me, all you who are weary
burdened and I will give you rest

When you say, no one really loves me
God tells you, I LOVE YOU.

When you say, I don’t know how to go on
God tells you, I will show you the path.

When you ask, what path does u (god) have for me
God tells you,to adopt the path of humanity.

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL

ABRAHAM LINCOLN WITH HIS SON

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the united states of America (1861 – 1865) is one of the world’s great statesmen for all time.
(This is an extract of a letter written by Abraham Lincoln to the headmaster of his son's school. A letter so typical of the man who bore malice towards none and had charity for all.The values and ideals he speaks of continue to be relevant to this day and for all times).Today is childrens day so posting this valuable message in my blog: I liked the beauty of expression and the gravity of the essence.

He will have to learn I know, that all men are not just,
All men are not true. But teach him also
that for every selfish politician, There is a dedicated leader
And for every scoundrel there's a hero,

Teach him also that for every enemy there's a friend.
It will take time, I know, but teach him,if you can,
That a dollar earned is of far more value than five found

Teach him to learn to lose,And also to enjoy winning.
Steer him away from envy; if you can,
Teach him the secret of quiet laughter.
Let him learn early that the bullies are easy to lick .

Teach him,if you can,the wonders of books
But also give him time to ponder the eternal mystery
Of birds in the sky, Bees in the flowers and sun on a green hillside.

"In school teach him it is far more honourable to fail,Than to cheat
Teach him to have faith in his own ideas,
Even if every one tells him he is wrong
Teach him to be gentle with gentle people
And tough with the tough.

Try to give him the strength not to follow the crowd
When everyone is getting on the bandwagon.
Teach him to listen to all men
But teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth.

"Teach him if you can how to laugh when he is sad
Teach him there is no shame in tears.
Teach him to scoff at cynics and to beware of too much sweetness
Teach him to sell his brawn and brain to the highest bidder,
But never to put a price tag on his Heart and soul.
Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob
And to stand and fight if he thinks he is right.

"Teach him gently but do not cuddle him,
Because only the test of fire makes fine steel.
Let him have the courage to be impatient.
Let him have the patience to be brave.
Teach him always to have sublime faith in himself,
Because then he will always have sublime faith in MANKIND

PANCHATANTRA

The Panchatantra is a legendary collection of short stories from India. The Panchatantra is a Sanskrit classic, written by Vishnu Sarma around 200 BC. The purpose behind the composition was to implant moral values and governing skills in the young sons of the king. The ancient Sanskrit text boasts of various animal stories in verse and prose.

The Panchatantra is the best guide to enroot moral values in children since its each tale has a moral lesson in its end. The Panchtantra is a great book where plants and animals can speak and converse with human beings too. The etymology of term ‘Panchatantra’ suggests that it is a combination of two words, ‘Pancha’ (five) and ‘Tantra’ (practice/ principle). So, the five principles or practices illustrated by Panchatantra are

‘Mitra Bhedha’ (Loss of Friends),
‘Mitra Laabha’ (Gaining Friends),
‘Suhrudbheda’ (Causing discord between Friends),
‘Vigraha’ (Separation) and
‘Sandhi’ (Union).

Many ages ago in the kingdom of Mahilaropya, there lived a king who was ruling very ideally. He had three sons, who were not intelligent. The king was worried about the heir to the throne, as he knew that his sons were incapable of governing. He was desperate to find a good and knowledgable teacher for his sons who would teach them the scriptures and make them knowledgeable in a short span of time. His minister then pointed towards a skilled pundit, Vishnu sharman. Vishnu sharman was old and the king was worried as to how an old teacher could accomplish this as an intelligent man takes more than twelve years to grasp all the elements of scriptures. Then Vishnu sharman convinced the king that he would teach the princes about kingly conduct through a series of stories, which would be more effective than the scriptures. Thus Vishnu sharman compiled the collection in five volumes termed as Pancha tantra.

Panchatantra are a collection of five volumes of stories written by a guru or teacher to instruct the different aspects of kinghood for princes. The five volumes together serve as a guide for prospective kings, to help him on ruling, to choose fellow friends, fellow ministers, and to have good conduct in daily life etc. These collection of stories in Pancha tantra are a real boon for parents to help them guide their children towards values in human life. All stories of Pancha tantra are accompanied by a moral.

HAPPY DEEPAVALI 05-11-2010.

Deepavali A five days Hindu festival marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year according to the Lunar Calendar. “Deepavali” from Sanskrit dipa = lamp, awali = row, line, when It literally translated means “Row of Lights”. It means “row of lighted lamps” or the Festival of lights. It celebrates the victory of goodness over evil, light over darkness. During Deepavali people pray to Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth, light, prosperty and wisdom, but also to God Ganesha, the 'Remover of Obstacles' or the 'Lord of Beginnings'.

It is the day when Shri Kirshna killed “NARAKASURA” – the demon of sorrow and hell, who had kidnapped and imprisoned 16,000 princesses for his harem. 'Puranas' have it that Naraka, son of Bhudevi, acquired immense power from a blessing given by Lord Brahma after a evere penance. He soon unleashed a reign of terror in the kingdom of Kamarupa, harassing celestial beings with his invincible might. Unable to bear the tyranny of the demon, the celestial beings pleaded with Lord Krishna to save them from his torture. But Narakasura could not be easily killed as he had a boon that he would face death only at the hands of his mother Bhudevi. So, Krishna asks his wife Satyabhama, the reincarnation of Bhudevi, to be his charioteer in the battle with Naraka.

When Krishna feigns unconsciousness after being hit by an arrow of Naraka, Satyabhama takes the bow and aims the arrow at Naraka, killing him instantly. Later Lord Krishna reminds her of the boon she had sought as Bhudevi. The slaying of Naraka by Sathyabhama could also be taken to interpret that parents should not hesitate to punish their children when they stray on to the wrong path. The message of Naraka Chaturdasi is that the good of the society should always prevail over one's own personal bonds.

The second day is Amavasya when Lakshmi puja is performed. It is believed that on this day Goddess Lakshmi would be in her benevolent mood and fulfill the wishes of her devotees. One version says that it was on this day that Goddess Lakshmi emerged from Kshira Sagara (Ocean of Milk) when the Gods and demons were churning the sagara (ocean) for nectar (Amrit).

It is the day when the selfish ego, which has entrapped all the 16,000 thought varieties, is killed and all thoughts get wedded to the one infinite-blissful-consciousness-“LORD SHREE KRISHNA PARAMAATMA”. The festival gives us a glowing example of how one has to brush aside one's personal joys and sorrows in the interest of society.

Fill the heart with the oil of love. Place in it the wick of single - pointed mind. Light it with the knowledge of truth and remove the darkness of Ignorance around you.

Best wishes for the festivals of lights.May the festival stir up within you the unconquerable desire to excel in the pursuit you are engaged in.Have a sense of pride aiming at achieving excellence in what ever work you undertake. It must be your endeavour to throw your heart and soul into it and try to achieve high standards of excellence.

WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY A VERY HAPPY DIWALI GLOWING WITH PEACE JOY AND PROSPERITY. HAVE A HAPPY,BLESSED AND SAFE DIWALI.
