REMEMBERING BHAGAT SINGH

This world doesnt see, for how much years we live but what we did during our life span and here is the true hero who made a great impcat in the struggle for Independance of our country, and he is none other than the legend BHAGAT SINGH, and he will never be forgetten and we shouldn't forget his sacrifice for our country.
When we speak about our freedom struggle and ask any person..."who got freedom for us?" ... iam sure 9 in 10 will say Gandhiji. We do accept the fact he was a great motivating force but at the same time we shouldn't forget the other freedom fighters who lost their life for the country fighting against British and one of our hero is Bhagat Singh.

27th Septeber the birthday of the legendary Bhagat Singh. He is the symbol of heroism for the lively youth of India. Despite Bhagat Singh being in the hearts of the people, we do not have a proper memorial for the great martyr.

Bhagat Singh was an Indian freedom fighter, considered to be one of the most influential revolutionaries of the Indian independence movement. For this reason, he is often referred to as Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

"SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH" The name itself speaks that he is patriotic as the meaning of the word Bhagat means "DEVOTEE" and "FORTUNATE".

It was not Bhagat Singh who was the first one from his family who fought for freedom but Bhagat Singh belonged to a family of freedom fighters where, the entire family, starting from his great grandfather, all where very Patriotic and freedom Fighters. The commitment of their family towards freedom struggle can be traced back to 1857, where according to historians, the first revolution started against Britishers.

Bhagat Singh was born in a Sikh family in village Banga in Layalpur district of Punjab (now in Pakistan). He was the third son of Sardar Kishan Singh and Vidyavati. Bhagat Singh's family was actively involved in freedom struggle. His father Kishan Singh and uncle Ajit Singh were members of Ghadr Party founded in the U.S to oust British rule from India. Family atmosphere had a great effect on the mind of young Bhagat Singh and patriotism flowed in his veins from childhood.

At the age of three he planted guns in the field, thnking it would yeild him a harvest of guns. While studying at the local D.A.V. School in Lahore, in 1916, young Bhagat Singh came into contact with some well-known political leaders like Lala Lajpat Rai and Rash Bihari Bose. Those days, Punjab was very charged politically. When the Jaliawalan Bagh massacre took place in 1919, as a tenager, he preserved the blood stained soil from the jalianwalabagh to remind him of his commitment to India.
In response to Mahatma Gandhi's call for non-cooperation against British rule in 1921, Bhagat Singh left his school and actively participated in the movement. In 1922, when Mahatma Gandhi suspended Non-cooperation movement against violence at Chauri-chaura in Gorakhpur, Bhagat was greatly disappointed. His faith in non violence weakened and he came to the conclusion that armed revolution was the only practical way of winning freedom. This is the time where Both Bhagat Singh and Gandhiji were against each other only in the method which they followed but the goal was same for both as they aimed at getting freedom in their own ways.

To continue his studies, Bhagat Singh joined the National College in Lahore, founded by Lala Lajpat Rai. At this college, which was a centre of revolutionary activities, he came into contact with revolutionaries such as Bhagwati Charan, Sukhdev Rajguru and others. Soon, he started the Bharat Noujawan sabha, to inspire many more youngsters in the freedom movement.Later, he joined the Hindustan Republician Army(HRA) after meeting revolutionaries like chandra shekhar Azad and B.K.Dutt.

Besides being a nationalist to his core, Bhagat Singh was a socialist and a republican. “Labour is the real sustainer of society. The sovereignty of the people is the ultimate destiny of workers. For these ideals and for this faith we shall welcome any suffering to which we may be condemned”. This brings out Bhagat Singh not as a terrorist, which his prosecutors laboured to prove him unsuccessfully. He was a socialist, and a democrat – all in one.

This man's only mission in life was to see his country free from British rule. He did his best and when he was being led to the gallows, he was satisfied that he had lived up to his principles, irrespective of the consequences. On his way to gallows he said to the officer, you are very fortunate to witness how revolutionaries smilingly embrace death for the love of their country. The only thing that made him sad was that he couldn't do more for his country.

Bhagat Singh is dead; yet he lives on in our hearts, thanks to film ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’ directed by Raj kumar santoshi.

Last but not least I would like to conclude with a quote from Bhagat Singh’s jail notebook:

The aim of life is no more to control the mind, but to develop it harmoniously; not to achieve salvation here after, but to make the best use of it here below; and not to realise truth, beauty and good only in contemplation, but also in the actual experience of daily life; social progress depends not upon the ennoblement of the few but on the enrichment of democracy; universal brotherhood can be achieved only when there is an equality of opportunity - of opportunity in the social, political and individual life."
— from Bhagat Singh's prison diary

I also wish my friends to speak little or not at all about me, because idols are created when men are praised, and this is very bad for the future of the human race. Acts alone, no matter by whom committed, ought to be studied, praised or blamed. Let them be praised in order that they may be imitated when they seem to contribute to the common wealth. Let them be censured when they are regarded as injurious to the general well being, so that they may not be repeated.

I desire that on no occasion whether near or remote, nor for any reason whatsoever, shall demonstration of a political or religious character be made before my remains, as I consider the time devoted to the dead would be better employed in improving the conditions of the living most of whom stands in great need of this.

......the young Bhagat Singh

How great were those patriots, How great was their pride, For those who sacrificed their lives for the motherland. Remember their great sacrifice! Don't we ever forget their glory,

Let us pay our rich tributes to the martyrs.

On eve of the birthday of the great leader bhagatsing, a tribute to him and also to all those so many unnamed freedom fighters, who were given their priceless life for the supreme cause of the free India. Never forget their sacrifice.Thousands laid down their lives, some one we never knew nor will ever meet.Let those who came after see to it that these names not be forgotten. Perhaps this tribute of mine won't be able to add anything new or glorious to their life but yet my heart rending love & respect and it shall remain till the last breath.

GANESH CHATURTHY SEPTEMBER 11 2010

Lord Ganesha, One of the most universally loved and recognized archetypes found in the various world cultures is the archetype of Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of Hinduism.Ganesha is known as The Remover of Obstacles. Ganesha is invoked before beginning any activity, to remove all possible obstacles – seen and unseen, known and unknown, internal and external, spiritual and material, now and in the future. Those who connect with Ganesha will offer him devotion through prayers and a food offering. In return, Ganesha will bless the devotee by clearing their path of obstacles to whatever they are experiencing in their life.

Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies maya or the earthly existence of human beings.

The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha's left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.

The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata.
The rosary in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous.

The laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of the Atman.

His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition.

The snake that runs round his waist represents energy, in all forms.
And he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a mouse.

Just offer 21 blades of Druva Grass to him with a piece of Jaggery and every person before beginning their duties, if they worship him with full faith, they will definitely succeed in their attempt of any work.

Note: The number 21 signifies - the five organs of perception, five organs of action, five vital airs (pranas), five elements, and the mind.

You can also recite the 108 salutations dedicated to Lord Ganesha by offering 108 blades of Druva Grass or read the Ganesha Upanishad or just simply pray.
While performing Ganesha Puja at home, you can always be flexible. The strict rituals are meant for Vedic priests. All you need be careful is to perform the pujas with a clean body and clean mind. What is more important is devotion not the ritual.

Never ask anything to GOD; Have faith in God and only pray him. I strongly believe that whatever happens is for the best and I don’t have any second thought about it. This belief of mine has accumulated from the past many years of life. Things which I had thought to be curses have turned out to be blessings in disguise for me. When I was a kid or even a teen I used to sometimes wonder why things don’t turn out to be how we want them to. But now I strongly believe that they do so because God has a special purpose for them not to be. If you at all trust god, believe god. If you wait for God’s decision and leave the decision up to him, he will do the best for you.

Be pure in heart and thoughts. Always do good things in life. Be good see good and do good. Be generous with others. Don’t hurt others by word or deed. Always help others in what every way you can. Treat others only in the way that you want to be treated. Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and Leave the rest to god.

BEST WISHES TO ALL

KABIR KA DOHAS (COUPLETS) WITH ENGLISH TRANSLATION

This month I wish to share “KABIR KA DOHAS” Which was studied when I was in school. These Dohas or couplets are the most famous of Kabir's poetry and there is profound wisdom hidden in each couplet and they reflect Kabir's way of expressing the most profound thoughts in the simplest words. These are great example of the wisdom and philosophical advancement of the great Indians. We should emulate them in our lives and contribute to a world with better thoughts and beliefs.

Chalti Chakki Dekh Kar, Diya Kabira Roye
Do Paatan Ke Beech Mein, Sabit Bacha Na Koye.

Translation:-
Looking at the grinding stones, Kabir cries
inside the two stones, no one survives.

Meaning:-
Kabir sees the grinding stones as the duality that we live in. Heaven and earth, Good and Bad, Male and Female, High status and Low status - all around is duality. This play of Chalti Chakki (moving mill) gets everyone; no one is saving from in its powerful grip.

Whoever enters this duality is crushed. No one survives. Kabir cries because rarely, if ever, does one see the oneness, the divinity, behind the duality.

Boora jo dekhan main chala, boora na milya koye,
Jo mann khoja apnaa, Mujh se boora na koye

I searched for the Bad man, met not a single one
when I searched myself "I" found None is nastier than me.

Meaning:-

This Doha is about observing ones own mind. Kabir says that he searched the world for the bad, the real evil person but he couldn't find the evil person anywhere. Then he looked within at his own thinking process, his own mind. The he found the real evil person who lived in his mind, unchecked.

Kaal Kare So Aaj Kar, Aaj Kare So aub
Pal Mein Pralaya Hoyegi, Bahuri Karoge Kub

Tomorrow's work do today, today's work now
if the moment is lost, how will be the work be done

Meaning
This Doha says that not to postpone the things for another day or another time. Do the work that needs to be done now. There is no other time then now.

Aisee Vani Boliye, Mann Ka Aapa Khoye
Apna Tan Sheetal Kare, Auran Ko Sukh Hoye

Translation
Speak such words, you lose the minds Ego
Body remains composed, others Find Peace

Meaning
In speech use such words that your ego is eliminated. Don't drag, don’t think yourself out to be big, important, rich or anything else that the ego attaches to. Building the Ego takes energy from the body, takes away the bodies composure. If ego is lost in ones speech, the listener finds peace from listening to it. Soft and kind words are easy to speak but its echo is endless.

Dheere Dheere Re Mana, Dheere Sub Kutch Hoye
Mali Seenche So Ghara, Ritu Aaye Phal Hoye

Translation
Slowly slowly stay my mind, Slowly everything happens
Gardner may water garden a hundred times, When the Season comes, there is fruit

Meaning
Kabir tells his mind to slow down, everything in life happens slowly, in its own time. The fruit only comes when the season comes, so will the fruit of life come in its own time.

HONESTY

If you search for tenderness
It isn't hard to find.
You can have the love you need to live.
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind.
It always seems to be so hard to give.
Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can always find someone
to say they sympathize.
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve.
But I don't want some pretty face
to tell me pretty lies.
All I want is someone to believe.
Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can find a lover.
I can find a friend.
I can have security until the bitter end.
Anyone can comfort me
With promises again.
I know... I know...
When I'm deep inside of me
Don’t be too concerned.
I won't as for nothin' while I'm gone.
But when I want sincerity
Tell me where else can I turn.
Because you're the one I depend upon.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I love this song, every line of it, written and composed by Billy Joel. Honesty means quality of being honest. Every dictionary tells what is honest, but it can only be understood by personal experience. I revere Mohandas K Gandhi and Lal bhadur Shastry, may be because they lead their lives with simple and honest way. And, now there are people who say 'don't make big deal of honesty and truth; these aren't the greatest virtues to live life by! ‘May be. May be not. I don't know.

SEP 5TH TEACHERS DAY

Prayer to the Guru

Indian traditions stress greatly on the importance of the guru or the teacher, especially in the realm of spirituality.

Adi guru Shankaracharia begins his Gurustotram or Verses to the Guru with the following Sanskrit Sloka.

Mantra:

Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwara
Guru Sakshath Parambrahma Tasmai Shri Gurave Namaha

Meaning: Guru is the creator Brahma, Guru is the preserver Vishnu, Guru is the destroyer shiva. Guru is directly the supreme spirit —
I offer my salutations to this Guru.

In our land the teacher who imparts training is held in very high esteem. The teacher is respected like a father. As the above saying describes, the teacher is considered as the 'trimurtis'- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva - all rolled into one.

In Simadbhagavad Gita, Sri krishna Bhagavan emphasis the need

of seeking a Guru-

tad viddhi pranipatena

pariprasnena sevaya

upadeksyanti te jnanam

jnaninas tattva darsinah

(B.g. 4.34)

Meaning:-

"Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self realised souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth."(ch.4, vrs.34).

Kabir Das, a poet in 15th century India, wrote in one of his Dohas (couplets in Hindi),

"Guru Govind dou khade, kaake laagoon paye
Balihari guru aapki, Govind diyo milaye."

Translated:

A famous poem by Kabir illustrating the meaning of this mantra goes like "Guru and God both appeared before me. Whom should I bow to first? I bow to my guru for it is he who introduced me to God."

Today is September 5, which is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India. 5th September is the birthday of a great teacher Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. When Dr. Radhakrishnan became the (second) president of India in 1962, some of his students and friends approached him and requested him to allow them to celebrate 5th September, his “birthday”. In reply, Dr, Radhakrishnan said, “instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ day”. The request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan’s love for the teaching profession. From then onwards, the day has been observed as Teachers’ Day in India.

Friends, knowledge of good things and all the good virtues can only be imparted by a teacher, a guru, and not by any book available in the market. It is very true that teacher help’s us to understand our subject but there is one very important thing that none of us should forget, that teachers not only make us literate but also educated. Literal knowledge can be gained from any book, but we always need teachers to gain education. Teachers are the one who facilitate learning of lessons of life, morals, differentiate between good and bad.

Teachers have an influencing role in the life of every student. They are like beacons of light, guiding us in the formative years of our life. Teachers mould us and shape our future. What we learn from our teachers remains with us, throughout our life. However, very often, we fail to show our appreciation and gratitude for their altruistic devotion. Teachers do need encouragement and support from the community to feel that their efforts are being recognized. To serve the purpose, Teacher's Day is celebrated throughout the world, year by year. By celebrating National Teacher's Day, we thank our teachers for providing us their invaluable guidance.

I love and admire my teachers because I taught by their talents, Equipped by their efficiency, Assisted by their advice, Cared by their concern, Helped by their humility, Encouraged by their efforts, and Raised by their reasoning.

Today is teacher’s day the day which makes us realize that whatever we are today is all because of our teachers. If we get a chance to meet our old teachers then it is something so special feelings and experience. Today we are like this because of our teachers. So say a small wish and prayer for them. On this teacher's day and always I thank my teachers, without them I am nothing that includes my loving Mother and my loving father who guided me as parents as well as those days in the school as teachers. Happy Teacher's day.

Every teacher they had something different for us to learn, some taught me how to be perfectly dressed, some taught me how to behave with others, some taught patience, commitment, and dedication. Some taught basic manners, courtesy.

Today, I would like to thank all the teachers. Thank you all (Especially my Beena chechi as she is my first teacher, and school teachers Amelia, Jayachandra sir, sairabhanu teacher, Ramani teacher all of whom I miss so much today. My Inter college Principal sir, Mr.O.Seetharama Murthy sir. My degree college principal sir. Dr.S.Anjaneyulu, Jagi sangam and Lakshmi Madam.

Happy Teacher's day to all the teachers in the world.

SEP 1ST SRI KRISHNAJANMASTAMI

The festival of Krishna Janamastami is the celebration of Lord Krishna's birthday. Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is a unique character in Hindu mythology.

The birthday of Krishna falls on the Astami of Krishna Paksh (the eighth day of the dark fortnight) in the month of shravana (August-September).

Significance:-

There is a tradition among the hindus, that whenever the wicked annoy and persecute the righteous, god undertakes an incarnation, not only to protect them, but also to save the world from destruction, due to their evil deeds.Krishna the incarnation of lord vishnu was born with this purpose.

The Story of Krishna Birth...

Mother Earth, unable to bear the burden of sins committed by evil kings and rulers, appealed to Brahma, the Creator for help. Brahma prayed to the Supreme Lord Vishnu, who assured him that he would soon be born on earth to annihilate tyrannical forces.

One such evil force was Kamsa, the ruler of Mathura (in northern India, now in Uttar Pradesh state) and his people were utterly terrified of him. On the day Kamsa's sister Devaki was married off to Vasudeva, an akashvani or voice from the sky was heard prophesying that Devaki's 8th son would be the destroyer of Kamsa. The frightened Kamsa immediately unsheathed his sword to kill his sister but Vasudeva intervened and implored Kamsa to spare his bride, and promised to hand over every new born child to him. Kamsa relented but imprisoned both Devaki and her husband Vasudeva.

When Devaki gave birth to her first child, Kamsa came to the prison cell and slaughtered the newborn. In this way, he killed the first six sons of Devaki. Even before her 8th child was born, Devaki and Vasudeva started lamenting its fate and theirs. Then suddenly Lord Vishnu appeared before them and said he himself was coming to rescue them and the people of Mathura. He asked Vasudeva to carry him to the house of his friend, the cowherd chief Nanda in Gokula right after his birth, where Nanda's wife Yashoda had given birth to a daughter. He was to exchange his boy and bring Yashoda's baby daughter back to the prison. Vishnu assured them that "nothing shall bar your path".

At midnight on ashtami, the divine baby was born in Kamsa's prison. Remembering the divine instructions, Vasudeva clasped the child to his bosom and started for Gokula, but found that his legs were in chains. He jerked his legs and was unfettered! The massive iron-barred doors unlocked and opened up.

While crossing river Yamuna, Vasudeva held his baby high over his head. The rain fell in torrents and the river was in spate. But the water made way for Vasudeva and miraculously a five-mouthed snake followed him from behind and provided shelter over the baby.

When Vasudeva reached Gokula, he found the door of Nanda's house open. He exchanged the babies and hurried back to the prison of Kamsa with the baby girl. Early in the morning, all the people at Gokula rejoiced the birth of Nanda's beautiful male child. Vasudeva came back to Mathura and as he entered, the doors of the prison closed themselves.

When Kamsa came to know about the birth, he rushed inside the prison and tried to kill the baby. The seventh child was "Yoga-Maya" who slipped out of the hands of kamsa, warned him of his death.

Lord Sri Krishna said in the Gita: "To protect the righteous, to destroy the sinful and to reinstate morals, I am born again and again in every age"; now, you get a special meaning. In every age, the Lord takes birth on this earth to destroy evil and protect dharma.

If Sri krishna(The lord) has to be discovered in our heart, the mind(Devaki) and Intellect(Vasudev) must integrate.Six impurities--desire, anger, greed, delusion, intoxication&jealousy must be given up.One must rise above the spiritual powers(Yoga-maya).Finally the lord is born and he kills the EGO(Kamsa).
