NAVARATRI FROM 22 SEPTEMBER 2025 TO 2 OCTOBER 2025.

This year 2025 , Maa Durga arrives on an elephant and departs on a human—a journey rich with meaning.

In our traditions, the Goddess’s chosen vāhan is not a casual detail. Each year, the form she rides in and out on is seen as a reflection of the times ahead. Astrology and folklore read these signs as guidance for how blessings will flow and what responsibilities will follow.

The elephant is an auspicious beginning. It stands for abundance, stability, wisdom, and prosperity. When the Mother comes on an elephant, it is said to promise good rains, fertile lands, collective growth, and peace. It is a sign that the year begins with nature’s grace and the Goddess’s generosity.
But her departure on a human carries a rare and striking message. Unlike the grandeur of divine animals, the human vāhan turns the focus back on us. It signifies that while the Goddess blesses the world with strength and abundance, the responsibility of sustaining and protecting it rests in human hands. The year ahead, then, will not run on divine favour alone, it will demand our choices, our courage, and our compassion.

Astrologers interpret this as a reminder: prosperity is possible, but fragile unless guarded by wisdom and action. The rains may fall, opportunities may come, but it is up to people to nurture, preserve, and channel them rightly. The departure on a human signals accountability, tests of integrity, leadership, and community spirit.

Together, her journey this year tells a powerful story. The Mother brings blessings with her arrival, but entrusts us with the task of carrying them forward. Navaratri thus becomes more than worship, it is the awakening of responsibility. The Goddess has walked with us; now she asks us to walk for her, as her vessels in the world.
