Today is the Birth Anniversary of Savitribai Phule (born Jan 3, 1831).Today We Remembering & Paid Rich tributes to portraits of First teacher in India "Savithri Bhai Phule" on Her 195th birth anniversary celebrations.
She walked through mud so we could walk into classrooms. In a time when education was forbidden for women and lower castes, she and her husband (Jyotirao Phule) started the first school for girls in Pune.
Kolkata has always prided itself on being a city of intellectuals. Today, let's remember the woman who fought the hardest battle to make education a right, not a privilege.
